Transport

From Vancouver

Vancouver is an easy city to get around by public transport and it is reliable and resaonably priced

Bus fares can be paid by cash, by pre purchased tickets (newsagents, drug stores, etc) or with pre paid montly passes (newsagents, drug stores, etc). Outside of Monday-Friday during daytime hours, all busses are $2.25 CDN. During Monday-Friday daytime hours there are 3 zones. If you travel within a zone it is $2.25. If you cross a zone, the price is higher.

Useful to think of the city as traversed by 2 express busses (98, 99). The 98 goes south to north, then back again. It starts in Richmond, goes close to the airport (get the 424 from the Airport to Airport Station then change to 98 bus) and then goes downtown. The 99 goes from the eastern edge of the city to the western i.e. out to the University of British Columbia. The two buses cross at Granville and Broadway. NOTE: that these buses only stop at major stops which is about every 5 or 6 bus stops. Check the bus stop to see that it includes 98 or 99 on the stop or the bus won't stop there: it will just drive by. These buses run about every 15-20 minutes during the week, every 20-30 minutes late in the evening or weekends.
